Lovey and Boo have been sleeping on the wooden floor boards for the last 3 days and anywhere they can keep cool. It’s been so hot here in Adelaide and they are wearing fur coats. Ok I did trim a lot of fur off them but they weren’t bred for this type of weather. Australian summers are brutal and the best way to keep them cool is to keep them fur free>
Poor little things. They freeze in winter and roast in summer but we do the best we can to keep them warm/cool. Do you do the same for your pets and animals? We even try to cut the fur from their pads as well to keep their little toes cool.
I couldn’t imagine what it would be like for any animal being left in the heat without shade or fluid but I’m sure anyone would care for their pets properly. Oh, by the way….’Lovey’ is getting quite frisky now too especially since she is recovering from her sudden onset of a bowel infection. More tests, antibiotics and Xrays are still on the cards though but she is surviving.
She looks like she has mange with all the bald spots on her. The vet had to shave some areas to get blood. Her chest is bare from having to go into the vena cava for blood… she was dehydrated and they couldn’t get into a vein. Then another bald spot on her side where a small fat glob became inflamed and infected…. aspirated some of the underlying fluid to test it. They finally got a vein after shaving her little leg and gave her IV fluids… so another bald spot there too. She looks terrible but she is smiling again. Thank goodness for that. Now we are just waiting for the vet to post the bill…. Arghhhh That will be horrendous but well worht it for saving her life…. My baby girl. Boo just lays on the lounge with her feet in the air….. Bless them both. Don’t you just love the absolute affection and loyalty you get from pets?
